The Establishment and maintenance of a library for promoting the study and knowledge of literature and all artistic and scientific subjects with the object of advancing the education of the public particularly within the city of Plymouth and the counties of Devon and Cornwall.

The PPL is one of the oldest surviving private subscription libraries in Devon.

In 2018 we moved to new premises in part of the old church hall in St Barnabas Terrace.

Immediately outside our front door are four parking spaces and one disabled bay that are free to members.

The nearest bus stop is in Stuart Rd about 150 metres away.
